Etsy Fee Calculator Canada

Canadian sellers pay about 3% + $0.25 in payment processing, and the listing fee, transaction fee and offsite ads fee work the same as in the US. This page is preset to the Canadian region so you start with the right processing rate and the shipping assumptions Canadian shops actually use, instead of the US defaults.

GST/HST is the big local difference, and it is a tax, not a platform fee, so it stays out of these calculations. You charge it on top of the listing price and remit it to the CRA, and it does not change the percentage Etsy takes — but it does change the total the buyer pays, which matters if you define your target margin on the buyer's total rather than the item price. (Below the $30,000 revenue threshold you may not need to charge GST/HST at all, which changes the buyer's total again.)

Etsy pays out in USD by default, so Canadian sellers absorb CAD/USD movement on every sale, plus any conversion fee your bank applies. The calculator shows USD; if you think in CAD, apply your current rate to the net payout before you judge the margin.

Shipping inside Canada is cheap for small items but gets expensive fast for anything bulky, and parcels crossing from the US into Canada can trigger duties and brokerage fees at low value. Enter your real per-parcel cost in the shipping field to see the net profit before you promise free delivery.

Pricing tip: Canadian buyers are less sensitive to shipping charges than US buyers but more sensitive to the total price. Raising the item price slightly and charging less shipping often converts better than the reverse.

Offsite ads apply the same way: 15%, or 12% above $10,000 in trailing volume, on the orders they bring. Toggle it on to compare your baseline profit against the worst case.

FAQ

What is the Canadian payment processing fee?

About 3% + $0.25, per Etsy's published rates — similar to the US, but charged in a Canadian shop's context.

Do I charge GST/HST?

That is a tax matter, not a platform fee, so it is not included here. It changes the buyer's total, which is what the fees are calculated on.

How is it different from the US?

Payment rates and currency differ, and GST/HST plus CAD/USD payout add two more things to track. The rest of the fee structure is similar.
